The 1st XI plays at the weekend in the Palace Shield and the Crabtree Cup. Games start at 1:30pm and can last until 8:00pm, until September, when games start at 1:00pm. Players are asked to arrive no later than 30 minutes before the start of a game.

Palace Shield League - Division 4 matches are played on a win/lose basis. A match is 90 overs long with the team batting first facing a maximum of 45 overs. If you bowl a team out before the end of their innings, you get to take any full overs remaining from their innings when you bat. 9 points are awarded for a win, with bonus points for batting and bowling performance. If batting first, 3 points are awarded for batting at 4 an over through the innings, 2 points for 3 an over, 1 point for 2 an over. When batting second, 3 points if reaching 90% of the target, 2 for 80% and 1 for 70%. When bowling 1 point for 3 wickets, 2 for 7, 3 for bowling a team out, regardless of how many players. If you win the game batting points don't count. Tie is worth 5 points each plus bowling points. Incomplete Game 2 points each plus batting and bowling points, provided that the team batting first has received at least 25 overs, or has previously completed its innings. An uncompleted game where the scores are level will be regarded as a tie.​

 

The Crabtree Cup is a Palace Shield knockout tournament. Games are 40 overs per side and the draw is for teams from PS Division 2 and below.
